4 ways to prepare for voting
On 15 March 2023, you will have a say about the future of our water. That's when you can cast your vote in the Water Authority elections. Maybe this is the first time you are going to vote or perhaps you don't remember exactly how it works? To make sure you can take part, here are four tips to help you prepare for voting!
1. Delve into the issues
You may ask yourself: 'surely everyone wants to have reliable dykes and clean water, what is there to choose?' True, of course that is what people want, but there are various ways of how to provide them. The way we vote will affect the taxes we pay and also has an impact on the environment. 2. Go to MijnStem.nl
Political parties have different points of view. To find out which parties take part in the elections in your region, what their plans are and which party suits you best, go to MijnStem.nl (). Here you can find background information and compare all parties.
3. Find out where you can vote
Check the website of your municipality to find out where you can vote close to your home address, school or work.
4. Bring your voting card and valid ID with you
In the run-up to the elections you will receive your voting card by post. You will need to bring your voting card with you to the polling station together with a valid identity document. This can be a passport or an identity card. A driving licence is only allowed when it has been issued in the Netherlands, an EU state or an EEA state. Please note that as a non-EU or non-EEA citizen you will have to bring your residence permit with you as well!
