Report a death

We do not have to be notified for the death of an accountholder for water authority tax. We will receive all the required information from the municipality, the ‘Kadaster (You are leaving this website)’ (The Netherlands' Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency) or the Chamber of Commerce.

What happens to the water authority tax assessment?

That depends on the situation.

Did the deceased person live alone?

The water authority tax assessment will be transferred to the name of the heir(s). In most cases, the assessment will also be reduced. If the assessment had already been fully paid, the heirs will receive a refund for the overpaid amount.

Received an assessment but not an heir?

Have you received a water authority tax assessment for a deceased relative but are you not an heir? Please inform us via this contact form.

Did the deceased person not live alone?

In that case, we will transfer the assessment to the name of the remaining resident at the address. If only one resident remains after the death, we will reduce the assessment. If the assessment had already been paid fully, the remaining resident will receive a refund for the overpaid amount.
